COOL
PHYSICS MODEL TRICKS
Hopefully,
this list will be a work-in-progress... but here's some
of the neat things we've figured out how to do so
far.
Accurate AR-75:
Eliminate the shotgun-spray of the AR-75. Just change the AR-75's
primary theta error to 0.
Machine Pistol: Speed up
the .44 a little. Change its recovery ticks to zero, make it automatic, and
change its firing shape to 11 (that's
the AR-75 shape... without that change, the pistol still takes its normal
time to fire).
Ninja Bob: Give the Bobs some teeth!
Just turn off their "cannot attack" flag and pump up their
melee attack. Make sure you take Marines off their enemy list!
This once still doesn't seem to work right... are we missing
something?
Kamikaze Bob:
Or, alternatively, make all the Bobs into ExplodaBobs. Flip the Kamikaze
flag and give them some shrapnel damage. (Yuck).
Dogfight, or Pfhor of
the Luftwaffe:
This is one of my personal favorites. Turn off gravity
for the Running record, give the pistol a kick of about 10 or so, and make the
Major Fighters into Fliers. Then play a network game in Waldo World Arena...
Wave Motion Cannon: This one was started as a joke,
I think... but now you can make it into reality. Of course, it's still sort of
subjective what the Wave Motion Cannon would do in Marathon... but
I've found that an AR-75 on full
automatic with tons of ammo firing Plasma Gun Overload shots is pretty close.
<grin>
Flare Guns:
Set the light intensity of the plasma pistol, pistol, or fist to 2 and the
delay to about 90. Going into a dark room? Fire once, and you can see.

Mines:
Create a new shot, with a big radius, zero speed, not affected by
gravity, with a burst effect something like the grenade (or maybe more
powerful), and the missile explosion effect. Then set one of the
weapons (maybe the missile launcher's second shot) to create it.
Great in narrow corridors... Submitted by jmeu+@andrew.cmu.edu and

Speed Rockets:
Rockets seem so much cooler with a speed of 2 or 2.5...

You might have also noticed that there a bunch of unused
records in the Aliens and Shots modules... you can make new aliens, new projectile
types... be creative!
