Despite Bungie closing the door on the Marathon series almost two years ago, the flexability of Forge/Anvil and the multitude of 3rd party utilities has ensured that the engine remains popular with scenario builders. There seems to be a couple of new scenarios announced each week, but the coordinators of these projects are generally looking for additional help to get the scenario finished in a reasonable amount of time. Additionally, map builders, Photoshop wizards and physics gurus (to name just a few), are often on the lookout for projects to join rather than trying to start their own from scratch.
Borzz recenty posted an article to alt.games.marathon suggesting the idea of a web site to connect these projects and 'volunteers' together, and that's what we've attempted to create here.
Rather than having a manually maintained page, I thought the best way to do this is through a series of CGI scripts. That way the pages should always be up to date, and users won't have to wait on someone else to upload their request. All requests and volunteer listing will stay on the site for 4 weeks after which time they'll be automatically removed and an email will be forwarded to the poster so they can re-add the details if necessary. Posters also have the option of removing their ads if they supplied a password when submitting.
The scripts themselves are now functional (I'm sure there are bugs), but the layout is still very basic - I'll work on this too. I'd welcome any comments or suggestions for layout or other general improvements.
OK, enough talk. Just try things out and let me know what you think........
